A look at one of the four Walt Disney World value resorts, including what makes it different and why a budget traveler should consider staying at it.

Three of the four budget properties at Walt Disney World that the company considers value resorts are grouped under the All-Stars name. What basically separates the All-Star Movies Resort from the others is the theme and a few other small touches.

What is the Theme of the All-Star Movies Resort?

The name probably gives it away, but this one is themed with some of Disney’s most popular movies and characters.

The resort is separated out into the following movie-themed buildings: 101 Dalmatians, Toy Story, Fantasia (original and 2000), The Mighty Ducks and Herbie: The Love Bug. These three-story buildings feature exterior corridors, central elevators and stairwells at the ends. They are also separate from the main lobby and food court building.

Each building features exterior décor that fits each movie. For instance, the Toy Story buildings feature a 35-ft tall Buzz Lightyear and a 25-ft tall Woody between the buildings, along with rooftop green soldiers. The interior features matching touches like character printed bedspreads and wallpaper strips.

Rooms closest to the lobby and pool areas are classified as “preferred” and will cost more than the “standard” rooms, which usually offer parking lot views. The most centrally located buildings are the 101 Dalmatians ones. The quietest will be the Herbie: The Love Bug buildings. Pool-facing and first-floor rooms also tend to encounter more noise, especially from kids, as the lower prices attract a lot of families to the resort.

All-Star Movies Room Details

Each room features two double beds, which may be a bit uncomfortable for two adults per bed, or one king bed. These 260-sq-ft rooms accommodate four maximum, plus one child under 3 in a crib. Connecting rooms and accommodations for guests with disabilities are also available upon request, based on availability. Rates start at $82 a night.

Rooms have a TV, phone, one sink and mirror (the tub/shower and toilet are in a separate room), an open area for hanging clothes (with a rack on top) and a small size dresser. Irons/ironing boards and hair dryers are available upon request.

There is high-speed internet available in the room for $9.95 a day, but there is no Wi-Fi available at the resort. All rooms are also now smoke-free, though each resort has designated smoking areas.

All-Star Movies Dining Options

The main dining option at this resort is the film-inspired food court, located in the Cinema Hall building, next to the check-in area. There is also in-room pizza delivery (though this option is way over-priced) and an “all-you-can-drink” mug available for purchase to use during your stay. An outdoor pool bar (adjacent to the food court and Fantasia Pool) offers light food and drink.

Each building does have soda and snack vending machines, along with ice machines, and in-room refrigerators may be requested, for an additional fee per day.

Recreation Options at the All-Star Movies

The resort has two pools. One is a hockey-rink-themed pool in The Mighty Ducks area, the other is Sorcerer Mickey as he directs a liquid symphony at the Fantasia pool, which features a kid’s area.

How to Book a Room
