Walt Disney World offers four resorts aimed at the budget traveler. Here's an overview of which resorts they are and what makes them different from each other.

As covered in the previous article on Walt Disney World value resorts, there are low-cost options available to those wanting to stay on-property during their vacation at the theme parks. While slightly higher in cost compared to basic hotels in the Kissimmee and International Drive area of Orlando, they are worth the small splurge if one wants a completely Disney experience.

Here are the four options Walt Disney World offers in the Value Resort category, where standard rooms start at $82 a night:

All-Star Movies

One of three resorts dubbed “The All-Stars,” this one is themed with some of Disney’s most popular movies and characters. The resort is separated out into the following movie-themed room buildings: 101 Dalmatians, Toy Story, Fantasia (original and 2000), The Mighty Ducks and Herbie: The Love Bug.

All-Star Music

The second of three resorts dubbed “The All-Stars,” this one is music-themed, though it still features some of Disney’s most popular movies and characters.

The All-Star Music is also the only value resort with Family Suite rooms, which sleep six to a room (versus four in a normal value room). There are also two full bathrooms, along with an in-room refrigerator, microwave and a coffeemaker. Rack rate on these suites starts at $185 a night.

All-Star Sports

The third of three resorts dubbed “The All-Stars,” this one is sports-themed, though it still features some of Disney’s most popular movies and characters. The resort is separated out into the following sports-themed buildings: Touchdown! (football), Center Court (tennis), Homerun Hotel (baseball), Surfs Up! (surfing), and Hoops Hotel (basketball).

Pop Century

For this resort, Disney has used the theme of pop culture through the decades. The resort is sectioned out into areas representing the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. Each features themes highlighting pop culture items like jukeboxes and poodle skirts in the 50s, a 3-story tall Big Wheel and disco music in the 70s and Rubiks Cubes and hip hop in the 80s. And of course each decade features Disney characters from movies made during that decade.

This value resort is the newest of the four and also a favorite with this budget travel writer.

Basic Value Resort Amenities

Each value resort features exterior hallways on its buildings and the room buildings are separate from the main lobby and food court building. All multi-floor room buildings feature central elevators, as well as stairwells at the end of each building.

Rooms feature two double beds, which may be a bit uncomfortable for two adults per bed, or one king bed. Connecting rooms and accommodations for guests with disabilities are also available upon request, based on availability. All rooms are now smoke-free, though each resort has designated smoking areas.

Food options include a resort-themed food court, in-room pizza delivery (though this option is way over-priced) and an “all-you-can-drink” soda mug available for purchase to use during your stay.

Each resort also features at least two pools and an arcade for recreation.
